March 2025
Intro to Hand Building
In March 2025 I expanded my pottery skills through taking a hand building course. While the majority of my previous work was thrown on a pottery wheel this class taught be techniques to turn rolled out slabs of clay into functional 3D objects.
Unlike wheel throwing when you’re hand building it can take on just about any shape you want - not just round (even if we did make a lot of round items).
Over the course of this class I made a large colander, a small colander / berry washer, a bird feeder, and a “spherical” luminary.

Larger colander glazed (Jazzy celadon with blue monkey on the rim & handle).
